ESSKA
The European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery & Arthroscopy (ESSKA) bring together orthopaedic surgeons, clinicians and scientists in Europe, along with their various societies. We foster the sharing of research, of practical techniques and experience. We organise courses, congresses and fellowship programmes. We publish a prestigious monthly journal, books and the ESSKA Times on a monthly basis, to keep our members at the forefront of developments.
Our online education, including webinars and the ESSKA Academy, is becoming sophisticated and powerful.
In all this, ESSKA’s aim is to improve our patients’ quality-of-life, by improving the quality of their treatment. The ESSKA Congress is held every two years - the ESSKA@Home Virtual Congress will be held 11-15 May 2021 and the next Congress will be held in Paris on 27-29 April 2022. ESSKA fellowship programmes are a valuable tool. They select promising surgeons — our hopes for the future — and expose them to the current "stars" and to their facilities. ESSKA accredits teaching centres across Europe ensuring the highest of standards. ESSKA has four specialised sections — AFAS, EKA, ESA and ESMA — as well as 6 scientific committees and 4 working groups. ESSKA publishes the research of its members through its monthly journal KSSTA, which has an Impact Factor of 3.210. This is a prestigious forum for scientific contribution and attracts an ever-increasing number of submissions. The standards are stringent, with less than 30% accepted for publication. ESSKA also successfully launched the Journal of Experimental Orthopaedics (JEO), an international journal focusing on orthopaedic basic science. JEO is already indexed in both PubMed and MEDLINE. ESSKA also publishes books, which are renowned for their academic excellence.
ESSKA works closely with affiliated societies, offering them a larger arena than their national confines. We provide expertise and organisation and a bigger forum for their members. Our sister societies overseas are AOSSM, APKASS and SLARD.
ESSKA Membership offers many benefits, apart from the comradeship of your peers. You will have access to our KSSTA journal and online material. You can apply for fellowships and there are also various financial reductions.
